Acute Care – It’s just 20-minutes away
Our immune system does an incredible job of protecting us against harmful bacteria, viruses, toxins, fungi and parasites. It recognises the cells that make up our body and works to get rid of anything that shouldn’t be there.
There are a number of simple lifestyle factors which help your body do its work most effectively. Natural health and wellbeing is the best kind so anything we can do ourselves should always be the prime focus in achieving health and wellness.
Rest
Allows your body to re-energise its cells and keep everything in alignment
Eat wholefoods
Gives you the right antioxidants and nutrients
Keep up the fluids
Vital for maintaining your body’s function including carry nutrients to your cells
However, there are times when our immune system can overreact to harmless invaders and become compromised, leaving us subjected to acute conditions. At these times, we need to do a bit extra to support our immune system and try to avoid it becoming ineffective, which would leave us without this natural protection against illness and open us up to infections.
We recognise the following as acute conditions: colds, fever, hay fever, ear infections, tonsillitis, low iron, gastroenteritis and traveller’s diarrhoea, and extend this to support for pregnant women.
In line with our natural approach, we seek out the best natural herbs and supplements for boosting the immune system. Metagenics, the #1 provider of quality practitioner-only natural medicines in Australia and New Zealand—and whose products we stock in the clinic—have identified the below as four key supports for acute conditions:
Andrographis
Reduces symptoms of the common cold and other upper respiratory tract infections
Zinc
When taken within 24 hours of the first symptoms of infection, zinc reduces the severity and duration of colds
Vitamin C
Reduces symptom severity and duration of the common cold by an average of 23%, cutting the number of days spent feeling unwell by almost a quarter
Medicinal Mushrooms
The combination of cordyceps, coriolus, reishi and shiitake mushrooms reduces common cold symptoms by enhancing immune strength and function.
We are dedicated to helping you and love seeing people healthy and vibrant. There is a huge range of high-quality naturopathic remedies and dietary and lifestyle advice which can be given to help treat and prevent acute conditions and we want to share it with you!
Acute consultations – NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
Take advantage of a 20-minute acute consultation with one of our qualified naturopaths and we will provide the support you need, when you need it. In addition to the acute conditions mentioned above, we can also answer questions about which supplements to take, offer advice regarding the quality of different supplements and discuss the need for good multi-vitamins and supplements for pregnant women. Our naturopaths can also determine whether your condition might be more serious and may require antibiotics and will refer you to other medical professionals as necessary.
— We offer online appointments via Zoom or phone and are currently encouraging clients to utilise this option. If you have an existing in-clinic appointment booked, we welcome you to change this to online. Please simply phone us ahead of time to arrange this. Any liquid herbs or supplements recommended will then be posted directly to you following your appointment. This is a great way to still access the care and support you need from the comfort of your home/office. —
