Welcome to the team Ally & Perri

We are very pleased to welcome two new naturopaths to our wonderful team at Kismet. Recently, we conducted brief Q&A sessions with them both so we could get to know them better and share a bit about them with you.

Ally Stuart BHSc

Please tell us why you become a naturopath.

Naturopathy is the perfect combination of a radical passion for changing the way we think about health married with helping others. Being a naturopath also allows me to experience the everyday magic that is herbal medicine.

What conditions do you like to see in clinic? Who is your ideal client?

Empowering others with knowledge of how to overcome mental health conditions and their mind to be able to feel like they are not powerless is extremely rewarding work. My ideal client is someone who is fed up with the way they feel and is ready to treat their body the way it should be treated.

What inspires you each day in your work?

Herbal medicine inspires me as I am constantly curious about the way it works with the body to rapidly heal together with the multitude of functions in just one plant. There is still so much to learn and so many plants the medicinal powers of which have not yet been discovered. These plants also have the power to change lives – seeing the relief people can feel quite quickly is profoundly motivating.

What are some of your favourite foods and what do you commonly eat to stay healthy?

Chocolate—and transforming it into a medicinal powerhouse! Even though I have a pretty strong sweet tooth, I am constantly searching for and discovering new ways to keep what I eat low in sugar and nutrient dense. I am eternally grateful for the internet. Trust me, if you have a craving for something, you can ALWAYS find a natural, nutrient-dense alternative.

What is one health tip you live by and commonly share with clients?

MOVE. Every single person needs movement in their life. I aim to move my body every day through yoga, weights, walking and dance. This has been a complete game changer for my health in so many ways. Movement is crucial and there is no herb or supplement that can do what it does for your mental health and general wellbeing.

Perri Baldwin BHSc

Please tell us why you become a naturopath.

I was always particularly fascinated by the role of food and nutrition in disease prevention and cure so naturopathy was a natural choice. It allows me to also utilise therapies such as herbal medicine, flower essence therapy and homeopathy to help further strengthen and improve treatment outcomes for patients.

What conditions do you like to see in clinic? Who is your ideal client?

I have a special interest in skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea however I do like to treat anything including gut health, hormones and reproductive conditions, the immune system (including autoimmune disease), the nervous system (stress, anxiety, depression) and supporting energy production, as well as working on diet and lifestyle to help patients achieve optimal health. I also have a passion for supporting people with cancer at any stage, from diagnosis and treatment right through to survivorship.

My ideal patient is someone who is willing to learn or be educated about the intricacies of their own health or health condition, and someone who is committed to taking the necessary steps to improving their health naturally.

What inspires you each day in your work?

My patients are my biggest motivations and inspirations. It is such a privilege to be able to help an individual understand their own health or health condition and this inspires me to continue my education and keep up to date with research. There is also no better feeling than seeing a patient get results from your treatment plan. Often patients look to naturopathy as a last resort or when everything else they have tried hasn’t worked, so to be able to help a patient finally get the results they are after is both heartwarming and inspiring.

What are some of your favourite foods and what do you commonly eat to stay healthy?

My absolute favourite food is chocolate of any variety. My day-to-day diet typically consists of foods such as oats, Greek yogurt, lots of roasted vegetables, avocado, proteins such as beef, chicken, fish or eggs, nuts and seeds, bliss balls, nut butters and occasionally some berries or stone fruits.

What is one health tip you live by and commonly share with clients?

Consume a minimum of two litres of water per day, more if you are exercising! Water is essential for almost every single function in the human body and, considering two thirds of our bodies are made up of water, we must ensure that we are consuming enough water every day to maintain good hydration levels.
